Women’s boycott of Obama percolates up to the mainstream media

I am woman, hear me roar.

ABC’s Political Punch reports on “female supporters of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton who are angry — at the Democratic Party, at the Obama campaign, or at the general situation that sees their candidate facing tough times, in their view, in part because of sexism.”

I’m glad our collective voices are starting to make an impact. But the amazing thing is that the guest blogger behind this piece, Rick Stein, talks about the whole phenomenon like it’s something through the Hubble Telescope that’s so far away and vague and weird that nobody can be sure what the hell it is. Dig it:

I confess to being a man who has not always seen what his female friends and colleagues see as sexist in this race. What do you think? Has Sen. Clinton faced particular (unfair) challenges because of her gender? More than Sen. Obama has faced because of his race?

Is it humanly possible to be that oblivious? I mean, if Stein were a tree sloth or something, sure. Tree sloths sleep a lot and I get the impression they’re not all that plugged in to the news. But how can any sentient non-tree sloth American be this clueless? We’re talking Hillary Nutcrackers, people. “Iron my shirt.” An anti-Hillary 501c called C.U.N.T. Another one called “Stop running for President and make me a sandwich.”

Maybe Rick needs to read this: Why I will not vote for Obama even if he’s the nominee — and why you shouldn’t either. Or check out Shakespeare’s Sister’s Hillary Sexism Watch (which has ninety entries at this point, yes, ninety, count ‘em, ninety). Or read Marie Coco’s A Farewell to the ‘Hillary Nutcracker’ and Other Obscenities. Or wade through this handy summary by Erica Barnett:

Hillary Clinton is a bitch. A big ol’ bitchy bitch. And a cunt. A “big fucking whore.” Fortunately, you can “call a woman anything.” She’s “Nurse Ratched.” She’ll castrate you if she gets a chance. She would like that. She’s a “She-Devil.” She’s a madam, and her daughter’s a whore. She’s frigid, and she can’t give head. She’s a “She-Devil.” A lesbian. A nag. When things get tough, she cries like a big dumb GIRL. In fact, she’s just that — a “little girl.” In FACT, she wants to “cry her way to the White House.” To be, ahem, “Crybaby-in-Chief.” That proves that she’s not tough enough. But she’s also not feminine enough. She’s “screechy.” She’s an “aging, resentful female.” She’s “Sister Frigidaire.” She really ought to quit running for President and stick to housework. She basically spent her entire time as First Lady going to tea parties. She’s a monster who just won’t die. In fact, she really should just die. You can buy a urinal target with her face on it to express what you really think of her. OMG she’s got claws! She’s crazy. In fact, she’s a lunatic. She’s petty and vindictive and entitled. She’s a washed-up old hag. She’s “everybody’s first wife standing outside probate court.” She’s a “scolding mother.” She’s shrillshrillshrill. She can’t take it when people are mean to her. She’s a “hellish housewife.” She’s Tanya Harding. She CAN’T be President, what with the mood swings and the menses. Any woman who votes for her is voting with her vagina, not her brain. Women only like Hillary because she’s a fellow Vagina-American. And because they vote with their feelings. Frankly, anyone who still thinks we need “feminine role models” should get over it and move on, already. Oh, and men who support her are castratos in the eunuch chorus. You shouldn’t make her President because she wants it too much. She’s totally just banking on support from ugly old feminists. And she looooves to “play the victim.” She cackles! And cackles. And cackles. It’s like she’s a witch or something! She’s definitely “witchy.” And now you can buy her cackle as your ring tone. Her voice, too, is “grating”–like “fingernails on a blackboard” to “some men.” She’s hiding behind her gender. She isn’t a “convincing mom” because she’s too strident. She never did anything on her own. Her husband keeps her on a leash. She hates men. Her campaign is a “catfight.” She makes people want to kill themselves, is like a “domineering mother,” and is cold. And OMG she has boobies! All of which are reasons to hate her. (And boy, could I go on.)

Oh, and if you even mention any of this, you’re either silly or a bad person.

Actually, none of that would probably help Tree Sloth Rick. I suspect he’s like the Obamabots who read all that stuff and still clog up my moderation queue with inane comments about how sexism doesn’t exist, how there hasn’t been any misogyny in this campaign, etc., etc.. No idea what we’re talking about. Hubble Telescope. Mysterious smudges of light.

I got your “sweetie” right here

Maybe we should just be glad he doesn’t call women bitches and hos, like his buddy Jay-Z.

Edwards proves that he’s as much a fraud as I always thought he was

Edwards endorses Obama. Why today? To distract attention from Obama’s humiliating defeat in West Virginia, of course. Anything to keep people from noticing that Hillary is winning.

Ralph Nader: Life Outside the Political Narratives

The dominant narratives of this election year have nothing to do with Ralph Nader — and most Democrats are pretty darn happy about that .  We’re more concerned about race/gender, Barack/Hillary and Bush/McCain stories.  The only time we’ll hear about radical leftist politicians will be when the Democrats are reminding us that Barack Obama isn’t one of [...]

Hillary on track to win the popular vote overall

Jay Cost at Real Clear Politics has a spreadsheet showing how Hillary could end the primary season with the lead in the popular vote. The three key contests are West Virginia, Kentucky, and Puerto Rico. The spreadsheet is interactive, so you can play with the numbers to test various results.

Last night Hillary out-performed the prediction for West Virginia, taking 41% of the vote (which also had higher turnout than predicted) for a net of 147,328 votes.

If she goes on to perform as predicted in Kentucky and Puerto Rico, she’ll end this race with an easy majority in the total popular vote. That’s assuming you count Florida, though you can leave Michigan out.

And yet the media has collectively decided that the race is over, nothing to see here, move along. It’s astonishing. It’s the most blatant example of journalistic manipulation I’ve ever seen.

Consider if Hillary and Obama’s situations were reversed. Can you really imagine the national media ignoring the guy like this? Ignoring the fact that the two candidates are neck and neck, that the guy has just won a primary in a swing state by more than 40%, that 17 million people across the country have voted for him? Can you imagine the media simply yawning and saying, “geez, when is this chump gonna drop out?”

Hillary’s Victory Speech in West Virginia

I didn’t see it live, but I hear it was good. Here’s the video, which I certainly hope to watch soon. Soon but not yet, because my satellite is having a personal feud with YouTube. (Quick off-topic psychotic fugue: one of these days I’m going to overcome my antipathy for firearms, go out and buy a great big honking shotgun, and blast that fucking satellite dish to smithereens.)

Anyway, for now I guess I’ll just look at the little embedded objects and fantasize about what Hillary might be saying.

Part 1:

Part 2:

Part 3:

It’s a mob now

So it seems the popular thing now is to pretend that Hillary said something like white voters would only vote for her, or only white Americans work hard, or some such nonsense. Of course she said nothing of the kind; all she did was refer to the same polling data that everybody else has been talking about non-stop (see here for one of countless instances). Every single blog and political site has been discussing for weeks the fact that super-majorities of white, working-class Americans are voting against Obama, a fact that poses quite a challenge for him if he becomes the nominee. The exit polls coming out of North Carolina and Indiana made it clear that Obama’s support is now restricted to AAs and upper-income liberals. He can’t pull a majority from any other group. Hillary simply referred to this phenomenon as part of an argument for her own broader base of support, but damn if the Obamabots didn’t instantly twist her words and misquote her.

The people who are doing this deliberately — the people who read or heard Hillary’s actual remarks and chose to distort them — are dishonest hacks. Scum-sucking demagogues who know exactly what evil they’re perpetrating. But what of the thousands of people who don’t bother to investigate and simply believe whatever they’re told? Off they go, torches in hand, screaming at the top of their lungs, ready to burn the witch. What is wrong with these people? Is the will to hate so strong?

Just 10 days ago we saw this same thing in action with the Mickey Kantor video. It was a crude hoax, obvious to anybody who took more than a second to think about it, and yet look at the thousands of commenters at Huffington Post calling for blood.

So I guess the deal is we’re now going to have two fascist parties in this country. Just pick which shrieking mob of haters you want to belong to. Maybe we could have different colored jackets or something.

The company you keep

Read the comments on this piece. These are the Obamabots in all their glory.

When have I seen such hatred and bigotry and sheer dishonesty? Free Republic comes to mind. Little Green Footballs.

If this were an isolated display, it would mean nothing. But this is how Obamabots have been talking about Hillary and her supporters throughout this campaign. Actually this is pretty mild.

If this is the new Democratic party, count me out.

Voter Suppression in West Virginia happening NOW

I just got this on an email list:

Could you pass some info on to the rest of the callers that are calling into WV?

I’ve been talking with some people already on the ground in WV and the Obama camp is calling voters, NOT to get out the vote, but to ask for money - campaign donations. The gist of the call is that its not important that they vote, because the election is over, and then they ask for money to help put this primary campaign to an end and move on to the general election. Basically, they are telling voters its over. Then they ask for $400 donations. What the dollar amount is about, I don’t know. Perhaps they are just getting greedy.
