A couple of days ago, I sent the folks at Zogby a quick note expressing my displeasure with one of their recent press releases. Here's the response I received today from their communications director:
Hi, Roxanne,
Regarding your comment that wording in a recent Zogby press release is sexist, I am sorry you feel that way, but I do not agree The root word of "smitten" has nothing to do with sex, and, quite the opposite, refers to force ("to be struck or hit hard"). Only in minor references is there a notation of being charmed or enamored, neither of which necessarily imply a sexist intent. What people infer is totally beyond my control.
